Diary of a journey: I love Krabi

Goodmorning peeps, I’m finally able to issue a new post! From my social channels you may have probably seen that I’m busy with a small adventure, but for those who don’t know yet I’m having a little Thailand tour, a wonderful land, and one full of contradictions.

I have also been a good girl before leaving, I managed my articles and outfit, but in the end I decided that it makes no sense to issue articles which have nothing to do with the incredible emotions I’m living these days.

So here I am, after the first 3 days spent in the chaotic (and full of smog!!) Bangkok, I am now in Krabi, and more precisely in Railay Beach, where I’ve been for the last 4 days.

What can I say about Krabi, the only thing that comes to mind is that this place is a true paradise on earth.

With its nature, the headlands which directly end up into the sea and the variegated vegetation of which this wonderful place is full.

I’ve already been in Thailand 2 years ago, for my friend Alice’s wedding, but I hadn’t yet seen something this beautiful.

Yesterday we exploited the islands around here and had an excursion, the islands are 4, and are properly called the 4 Islands, and they are not far away from the beach of Railay West.

I’d say it was worth it, the islands are beautiful, we were able to do some snorkeling and enjoy the crystal clear waters and the white beaches they offer.

Once back to Railay West, we sat on the beach with our coconut, admiring one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.

But now that I’m crazily falling in love with Krabi, the time has come to prepare my luggage, and get ready for the next adventure, Koh Lanta awaits us, and I can’t wait to discover it❤

In two days a new journey diary will arrive, in the meantime, I super kiss y’all.

Thailand to explore: Discovering Koh Lanta

KOH LANTA, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!

Goodmorning peeps!

Where have we left off? To be honest it’s not a problem if you lost track of our conversation, given the long break I’ve taken from my last post.

The year which just ended was really tough as far as I’m concerned, and I really needed to take some time off. In the end, when you are a mother, you have a job which takes most of your day and no matter what you also decide to dive head-first into a project in which you believe in, you gotta face stress sooner rather than later!

When I left for my trip in Thailand, I promised myself I would have followed the blog full time anyway, but once I was able to post my first issue, I almost immediately noticed that I really wanted too much from myself, that it was time to catch a break, and finally relax a little. And that’s how it went.

I like the idea of being able to tell you about Thailand lived through my own eyes, sensations, without excessive chatter, I would simply like to tell you about my adventure in this wonderful land, remembering the stops I’ve had in it.

In my first post I was in Krabi, where I stayed 4 nights before leaving for Koh Lanta. I reached Koh Lanta through ferry, with 2 hours of navigation.

Koh Lanta was depicted to me as an unaltered paradise, but once I got to the port, the impression I got was really the opposite. I have to tell you immediately that I did not particularly love this island, but, due to not having visited it thoroughly, I will leave it a small benefit of the doubt, even though I’m not quite convinced of it.

The water is fairly clear, but definitely not Caribbean-clear! Besides, there’s the low tide problem, which makes it not very accessible many times over the day.

ACCOMODATION

We stayed at the Lanta Emerald Resort, where the accomodations are some pretty bungalows with sight on the swimming pool and the garden, the sea is a few steps away. The resort’s restaurant directly faced the beach, and it was wonderful to dine with that view, especially during sunset. Quite romantic!

Not to mention the small and cute massage center on the beach, an oasis of relax which is difficult to refuse!

Massage center on the beach, approximately 7 euros for one hour of complete massages.

EXCURSIONS

The great thing about Koh Lanta was the possibility of having the excursion which I wanted and dreamed about the most. We have spent a day in Koh Rok, two twin islands immersed in the ocean which are true-life paradise on earth. Being able to visit such wonderful and unaltered places (who knows for how long??!!) was truly an unforgettable experience. And obviously there was the snorkeling, discovering corals, anemones and fishes of all colors.

Koh Roh is only 1 hour of speed boat away from Koh Lanta, if you happen to be around, go there without thinking twice, you definitely won’t regret it!ornella nelly-the ladybug's beauty-koh lanta-thailandia-viaggio in thailandia-thailandia in gennaio - viaggio in thailandia-come organizzare un viaggio in Thailandia-vacanze di natale al caldo-vacanze al caldo

Ok, let’s forget about this, it’s much better!! 🙂

Koh Rok, please leave me here…

CONCLUSION

Maybe 4 days are not enough to fully enjoy an island like Koh Lanta, but nonetheless, it didn’t catch me as I thought it would have. Night life is almost not existent too, and the prices in the small flea markets are excessively higher compared to other locations in Thailand.

New post in a couple days, while next week we will go on with another stop, we go from the peace of Koh Lanta to the chaotic and bulky Patong!

A kiss.

Trip in Thailand: Patong, inbetween fun and craziness

DIARY OF A JOURNEY: STOP IN PATONG

Goodmorning peeps! I told you that this week I would have issued a new article for you about my trip in Thailand, you can’t say I didn’t warn you!

Last week I told you something about my stop in Koh Lanta, and about how this island did not enter my heart as expected, so today, as anticipated, we go to Paton Beach, so near Phuket!

I will start off by saying that Phuket, Patong and all nearby sites are IMO comparable to Riccione for certain aspects, not that Riccione is bad in any way! But it’s been proved that they have nothing in common (besides some rare beaches) with the idea of an unaltered Thailand which many people have.

Patong is the craziest and noisiest city in the Phuket district, but at least once in your life you have got to see it in order to realize it for yourself!

FROM KOH LANTA TO PATONG

From Koh Lanta it’s been quite simple to reach Patong, we took a ferry from Phuket Ferry which, in 3 hours of navigation with a boat swap in Phi Phi Island in the middle, brought us to the port of Phuket. There we took a  taxi and in 40/50 minutes we arrived in Patong.

Let’s say that Patong is not really suitable for families, in the hotels near the center (so to the beach) it is full to the brim of bars and lounges where music and heck go on until the earliest hours in the morning, and it is not fun if you are in your room and desire some rest after an intense day!

PATONG BEACH

To say that Patong is hectic is really an understatement, but it’s still worth it to spend a few days there (I’ve been there 4 nights) especially if you desire to see a side of Thailand which is made of fun and excesses.

Almost all night life here unravels in the main street which is called Bangla Road, and is accessible to cars in the morning and Tuc Tuc which becomes pedestrian-only in the evening. Bangla Road is filled with locals, discotheques, bars and, funny “ladies”, it is perennially bombed with very loud music, and mostly young people coming from all over the world.

NEW YEAR’S EVE IN PATONG

The days I have spent in Patong coincided with the Western New Year’s Eve, the Thai counterpart of this festivity is in reality in April but it’s been some time now that they have been celebrating ours too thanks to tourism. Celebrating New Year’s Eve in this part of Thailand is something extraordinarily crazy!! But it’s been wonderful, nonetheless.

It all started from a super dinner of fish in one of the restaurants on the promenade, only to relocate all together to the beach, where thousands of people gathered for celebrations, lighting up lanterns which almost entirely covered the sky above us. To say it was a spectacle would be an understatement, I have never seen something so romantic and emotional, you really had the impression to see something which is not for everybody, something which happens only once in a  lifetime.

Besides, let’s forget the fact that in order to go through Bangla Road it took us one hour, and that me and my friend Catty were attacked with streamer cans by whoever passed by in there. Better to not remember! 🙂

All in all, it’s been a unique experience anyway <3

THE BEACH

As with all of Thailand, there are many off-limits sites for bathers, due to sea scooters and various water sports, but all in all there’s plenty of room. Furthermore, there are locals located directly on the beach, where you can eat something while enjoying the panorama offered by Patong Beach.

I’ve been lucky enough to get in touch with a photographer from Rome, which was in Phuket for working reasons, when sunset time was approaching and there were fewer people.

So this leg of the tour is gone too, from here we will head over to Koh Tao, but we shall discuss this lost island in the Gulf of Thailand next time!
